Let's get this party started

I'm setting up this blog so that I can keep track of my writing. This is both a work space and a space to share what I've done. I do not care much if anyone reads it, in fact, I do not plan to share it. However, I feel that having this space and treating my writing as if I "am a writer" will help me to keep moving forward every day perfecting my craft and eventually live up to the nomenclature.

I've created some categories to organize my work. I've been going through many writing books with exercises to complete, so I'll have one section entitled "Writing Exercises". I believe a fun way to practice is to take on "Writing Prompts" pretty regularly. Although this could ostensibly be under the writing exercises, I like the idea of having it in a separate place. I enjoy writing "Short Stories" and plan to enter some contests, so I will need much practice in this arena. And if I am serious about being a writer, I will contend with the weighty "Long Form Writing".

My goal from my time as a Creative Writing student in college was to write a book or a screenplay. But since I have been away from writing for such a long period of time, I feel it necessary to do a lot of creative work before I set down the gauntlet on writing a book. I believe it will be something I do accomplish, I'm just not ready to put that stake in the ground yet.
